Sales Manager
Reports to:
V.P. Sales
Scope
Protein Forest, Inc. seeks a motivated individual who will build an outbound sales organization including hiring perso product line.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Product Manager and the Marketing Manager, develops and implements sales and marketing plans that enable the company to reach sales and profitability goals for its instruments, consumables and software products.
- Manage all aspects of sales / customer support for new product launch
- Recruit, train and manage outbound sales / customer service representatives
- Develop a sales process that integrates marketing activities, web based sales support and home office sales
- Perform field sales and product demonstrations
- Working with VP sales, builds a North American Field sales organization
Requirements
- Proven sales experience meeting or exceeding sales and profitability goals
- B.S. degree in a life science related field
- Strong understanding of new product missionary marketing and competitive product selling
- > 3 years new product sales and sales management experience

Sales Representative
Reports to:
Sales Manager
Scope
Perform all aspects of outbound sales process including customer service, order placement, product support, product demonstrations and applications.
Responsibilities
- Performs direct sales, product support and marketing.
- Provides follow up on lead referrals and will identify new prospects
- Demonstrates product line utility and competitive advantages within a mass spec proteomics work flow
- On occasion, sales representative will field demo the dPC Fractionator and MSRAT software
- Will coordinate company activities to close sales
- Manage product shows at key accounts or trade shows
- Local and national account responsibility
Requirements
- > 2 years experience in life sciences sales
- Excellent sales communication skills and personal motivation to succeed
- Able to learn proteomic methods quickly in order to communicate Protein Forest integrated work flows to customers effectively
- Able to thrive in start up atmosphere where individuals have many responsibilities
- B.S. degree or higher in a life science related field

Manufacturing Associate
Reports to:
Manufacturing Supervisor
Scope
Assists in the manufacture of products for the digital ProteomeChip (dPC) product lines and electrophoresis consumables.
Responsibilities
- Dispense acrylamido buffer solutions into chip arrays using an automated dispensing machine
- Assist in the manufacture of acrylamido buffer solutions
- Cast second dimension gel products
- Package products into final packaging for inventory
- Weigh dry chemicals for assembly of buffer solutions
- Follow SOP's and assist in manufacture of PFI products
- Maintain lab safety & cleanliness
- Provide backup to supervisor and other technicians
- Perform Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The primary requirement is the individual be able to follow written procedures and have good communication skills to be able to define problems and improvements in the manufacturing area. Other requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Requirements
- 2-yr Associate or Technical Degree or a Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline is preferred
- 1-2 years previous lab work/consumable manufacturing desirable, but not required
- Able to follow written procedures precisely
- Familiarity with computer applications such as Word for documents and Excel for spreadsheet generation is desirable, but not necessary
- Familiar with electro/mechanical operations
- Basic mathematical skills are necessary. The individual should be able to calculate fractions and be familiar with calculating general laboratory mathematics involved in preparing solutions and mixtures for specific reagents
- Ability to understand problem descriptions from supervisor and be able to collect data following verbal/written instruction, if necessary

C++ Programmer
Reports to:
Chief IT and Software Development Officer
Responsibilities:
Work with the Chief IT / Software Development Officer in maintaining, improving and developing our MSRAT™ bioinformatics software. Develop new products and deployment methods as well as new algorithms and data visualization methods. Support software development and IT activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum three years of software development work experience in an organization focused on software product development.
- Minimum three years development experience for Windows using Microsoft Visual C++ and MFC.
- Experience in developing GUI graphical (user interface) or algorithm development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or other scientific related field.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience or knowledge in proteomics, mass spec and/or protein databases.
- Advanced degree in Biology, Math, Statistics, or other scientific related field.
- Familiarity with Drupal, PHP, software testing, software deployment, Amazon S3 and other AWS, image processing techniques.
- Experience in hardware/software interfaces using serial and USB communication.
Required Personal Skills:
- Self motivated and independent in problem solving.
- Good communicator and ability to work in a development team.
Product Development Scientist/Engineer
Reports to:
Principal Engineer
Position Summary:
Support development of electrophoresis-based protein fractionation products. Candidates must be able to work effectively in the laboratory designing experiments, developing physical properties data, and validating fractionation procedures. A background in polymer chemistry or surface chemistry is required. Additionally, candidates must have an aptitude for fabricating and testing product prototypes.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes for modifying plastic surfaces to enhance the adhesion of a polymer gels.
- Design and construct prototypes to test product improvement concepts.
- Interface with external engineering design and manufacturing partners.
Requirements:
- MS plus 5-10 years, or PhD plus 2-3 years laboratory experience in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, analytical chemistry, physics or related field.
- Demonstrated independent research experience with biological systems.
- Prior industrial experience with protein purification, electrophoresis, MEMS and/or laboratory instrument development is a plus.
- Computer skills required -
- dynamic modeling of complex physical and chemical systems,
- CAD (2D or 3D),
- Programming (C++, FORTRAN, Visual Basic, Perl, etc.),
- MicroSoft Office.
Must have demonstrated excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
